The holidays are coming . . .

There are 13 days until Halloween.  38 until Thanksgiving.  68 until Christmas.  And 74 days until New Year’s Eve.  Yes, the holidays are coming . . .

The holidays are coming . . .

How do we survive and thrive during the holidays?!

How can we, as childless, survive and thrive this holiday season 2021?  Well, I believe two things will help…

  1. We need to make connections with other childless who really get it.
  2. We need to redefine the holidays, making them our own.

So, how do we do this exactly?

Making Connections…

Well, to help we childless women make connections this holiday season, Missy Desiree and I teamed up to coordinate a Childless Holiday Card Exchange.  I shared about this project at the beginning of October.  There is only one more week to join, as October 25th is the last day to submit a request to the Childless Holiday Card Exchange.  (Missy & I need time to get the addresses to everyone.  And then you, fabulous ones, need time to get cards made & send them!)  You can learn more about the Childless Holiday Card Exchange by clicking here.

Redefining…

As for redefining…  Well, I’m going to share some blogs I’ve written in the past that I think will help start our discussion about this.  And, of course, I’ll write more about redefining the holidays throughout November and December.  Let’s start with Halloween since it’s just thirteen short days away…

Embracing a Childfree Halloween…

If you’ve followed along here for any length of time, then you know that “childfree” is not a word I normally use to describe myself.  I am childless.  Halloween, however, is one time where I’ve been able to embrace the perks of celebrating childfree—no two-legged or four-legged kids in tow.  You can read more about that here.

Redefining Halloween as a Fur Mama…

When I’m not in the “let’s embrace a childfree Halloween” mindset, I try to redefine this holiday (and Christmas, too) as a fur mama.  You can read about that here.

A Non-traditional Thanksgiving…

Thanksgiving is my absolute favorite holiday.  And we’ve created a Thanksgiving for our non-traditional, little family—me, Dane, & Maddie.  Thanksgiving Day…  Well, it ranks in my top three favorite days.  (I do believe Maddie’s bday is my fave!)  Because I want Maddie to be part of the Thanksgiving celebration, I’ve researched which Thanksgiving foods are safe for her to eat.  You can read the full list of safe & unsafe Thanksgiving foods for fur babies here.

A Childless Christmas…

As for how to survive and thrive at Christmas…  Well, I’ve written a lot about this over the past four years.  Click the links below to read more…

If you are at a place where you just can’t thrive…  That’s okay.  Grief attacks.  Wobbles happen.  Sadness overwhelms.  If you just need to figure out a way to survive…  Well, click here.

A New Year…

We only have 74 days left in 2021, fabulous ones.  As this year comes to a close, let’s take a look back at the very first blog I published this year…  Let’s Scribble Outside the Lines!  I think it’s an excellent one to re-read, as I am encouraging us to redefine the holidays.  And to do that, I think we will most definitely have to scribble outside the lines!

Yes, the holidays are coming…  But we will survive and thrive together!

Remember!

October 25 is the LAST DAY to sign-up for the 2021 Childless Holiday Card Exchange.
