When #SaytheFword came across my Instagram feed, it definitely caught my eye! This inventive hashtag is spreading the message that we need to talk about fertility issues from having kids to miscarriage to infertility struggles. And I couldn’t agree more!
Did you know???
66% of women are concerned about their fertility
Only 21% have talked with their doctor about having kids
1 in 10 women suffer from endometriosis
As many as 20% of women suffer from PCOS
1 in 8 couples struggles with infertility
75% of women who pursue treatment to help them get pregnant do not tell their family and friends
1 in 4 pregnancies end in miscarriage or infant loss
At least 14% of US women in their early 40s are childless
Yet, we still feel alone…
Despite the fact that so many women are concerned about fertility, so many women struggle with infertility issues, and the number of childless women is on the rise, we still do not talk. Instead, we stay isolated and feel alone.
This must change! We must courageously take a stand and talk about these important issues. Truly, we are not alone. The statistics prove that. Events such as Fertility Fest and World Childless Week prove it. Publications such as The Childless Not By Choice Magazine prove it. Heck, the Resources page on Not So Mommy… proves it!
Take the Pledge!
So, take the pledge to #SaytheFword. Not only will you be taking a brave stand to speak out about these important issues, but #SaytheFword will donate $1 to one of four non-profit organizations—you choose which one.
Let’s show the world that there is nothing wrong with the F word!
