The All-Important Disclaimer: Though I was not compensated for this post, I did receive a complimentary custom pet portrait from Get Pet Portrait. This is not an advertisement, however, but a truthful review. (And, of course, there are some childless dog mom musings thrown in, as well.) When you purchase from Get Pet Portrait, I will earn a small commission to help keep Not So Mommy… up and running, as I have an affiliate link with this company. Redefining Home, Redefining Artwork…
If you’ve followed along at Not So Mommy… for any length of time, then you know that I am Dog Mom Proud. Dane and my fur babies are part of our family. Because of that, I display their photos throughout our home. For several years, I’ve said that I’d like to get pet portrait paintings made of Valentine, Prancer, and Maddie. Well, in honor of Maddie’s 7th Birthday, my mom (aka Maddie’s Mammo) sent us a custom pet portrait of Maddie!* And I love it!!!
My mom chose the elf costume for our spunky girl. And she sent them a photo of Maddie smiling BIG! Personally, I think the outfit looks a bit old-fashioned, like something a maiden might have worn in the village near the castle. So, I hung Maddie’s portrait in our snug, above our tea cabinet. (I really should write a blog about our tea cabinet sometime…) And I thought that I should get custom pet portraits of Valentine and Prancer (our fur babies who have crossed the Rainbow Bridge), too.
So, when GetPetPortrait reached out and asked if I’d like to introduce you, fabulous ones, to their custom canvas pet portraits, I was super excited! Since I already had a portrait of Maddie, I decided to create a custom portrait of Valentine.
Get Pet Portrait: My Dog Mom Review…
GetPetPortrait has over 120 portraits to choose from in several categories, including modern portraits and super pet heroes. But I decided to select from their historical options. Because our Valentine was a regal boy… Plus, I wanted to hang his pet portrait in the snug next to Maddie’s. And a historical portrait would match best.
Creating a Custom Pet Portrait . . .
After browsing the two pages of historical pet portrait options, I decided on “The Presiden-Pet.” I sent GetPetPortrait my favorite family photo of me, Dane, and Valentine. They were able to crop Valentine from that photo to create his custom pet portrait. (I was so glad that I didn’t have to find a photo of Valentine by himself, as the family photo truly is my favorite.) GetPetPortrait sent a preview of Valentine’s portrait for my approval. I was pleased to learn on their FAQs page that they send all customers a preview within 24 hours of placing an order. It goes to print after you approve the design!
Receiving the Portrait . . .
Valentine’s portrait arrived a little over a week after I approved the design. I was so excited to open the package and see his custom pet portrait live and in-person! Honestly, it was even better than I expected! A 12 X 18 portrait on museum quality canvas with an “America” stamp on the back. But don’t worry, fabulous ones… GetPetPortrait ships worldwide! Yay!
Displaying the Portrait . . .
When I showed Dane Valentine’s portrait, he smiled and said, “Our proper little gentleman.” His words made me smile. This portrait truly captures Valentine’s personality. He was quiet and calm and sat by my side during some of my darkest days. And I adore that his portrait hangs prominently in our snug, with his crazy, little sister’s painting next to it. Now, I need to get started on Prancer’s portrait… (Though you can have multiple pets on one canvas, if you want.)

Oh my gosh it is perfect! Valentine is indeed President worthy. You made a perfect choice, and it looks beautiful in your snug. Can’t wait to see what you pick out for Prancer. Maybe a reindeer costume? 🐾❤🐾💚🐾💜🐾
So glad you like Valentine’s portrait! 🙂 I’ve been trying to decide what to do for Prancer… A reindeer costume is a cute idea!
