The All-Important Disclaimer: Though I was not compensated for this post, I did receive a complimentary custom charcoal pet portrait from Treebok Pets. This is not an advertisement, however, but a truthful review. When you purchase from Treebok Pets, I will not earn a penny, as I do NOT have an affiliate link with Treebok. Your purchase will, however, support a small, woman-owned business located in Georgia, USA. And now for my dog mom review…
Last year, a friend (and fellow dog mom) messaged me and said I needed to check out Treebok Pets on Instagram. So, I did. I was so impressed with the custom charcoal pet portrait posts that I saw on Treebok Pets IG, that I hopped over to her website. I was so impressed with the artwork and other merchandise that she offers on her website that I messaged Reebok, owner and artist at Treebok Pets, asking if she’d like to collaborate. And I was super excited when she agreed to TWO collaborations!
Collaboration 1 with Treebok Pets…
First, Reebok and I worked on a giveaway last December 2020. One lucky Not So Mommy… Insta follower won a package of notecards from Treebok Pets!
On a personal note, I adore cards. Truly, cards are one of my favorite things! And Treebok pets has over 25 different notecard packages to choose from! The artwork on some are dogs. Others are cats, songbirds, and even penguins! I particularly like the “You got this” and “How you doin’” sayings… Probably because I love motivational sayings and I’m a Friends fanatic!
You can check out all the notecards offered at Treebok Pets by clicking here.
Collaboration 2 with Treebok Pets…
And now, for our second collaboration…
Reebok graciously offered to create a custom charcoal pet portrait of Maddie in exchange for a blog post review. We agreed that March would be a good month to publish the review because…
- National Pet Day is 11 April 2021
- Pet Parent’s Day is 25 April 2021
- Dog Mom’s Day is 8 May 2021
And I think a custom charcoal pet portrait would make a PAWsome gift for the pet parents in your life!
But I’m getting ahead of myself… First, let me tell you a bit about my experience with Treebok Pets custom charcoal pet portrait process…
Treebok Pets Custom Charcoal Pet Portrait: My Dog Mom Review…
Choosing a photo…
It didn’t take me long to figure out which photo I wanted to send Reebok of Maddie. At Christmas, my MIL snapped the most adorable photo of our girl. She was smiling and wearing a cream bow around her neck. So, I emailed this photo to Reebok. While she thought the picture was super cute, she asked if I’d send her a couple more photos of Maddie, as the one I sent didn’t quite have high enough resolution. Reebok really needs high quality photos, which show the features of your fur baby crisp and in good light. So, I found a couple more pics and emailed them over. At that point, she had what she needed. And now, I waited…
Receiving Maddie’s portrait…
But not for long! I received a package in the mail from Treebok Pets in less than two weeks! Enclosed was a handwritten note on a Treebok notecard. Reebok also included some instructions about how to frame our custom pet portrait. Before we talk about that, let me tell you about our first impression of Maddie’s portrait…
Our first impression of Maddie’s portrait…
LOVE! As I opened the package and saw our girl’s portrait, I couldn’t help but smile! Reebok asked if I wanted her to include the cream bow around Maddie’s neck or leave it out. One of the reasons I chose that photo was because of the bow, so I asked her to keep it. And I’m so glad I did. Oh, it is too adorable! Truly, Reebok is a very talented artist. I could not believe how incredible Maddie’s portrait is! The coloring of her fur is perfect. And Reebok really captured our girl’s personality and smile. I simply cannot say enough good things about Maddie’s custom charcoal pet portrait!
I had Maddie’s portrait laying on the dining room table when Dane came home. The first words out of his mouth were, “That’s cool!” He asked how much it cost. Of course, I told him that I received this portrait in exchange for a blog post. But Treebok Pet’s custom charcoal pet portraits start at only $65. Both of us agreed that the price is quite reasonable for the quality of artwork received.
Framing Maddie’s portrait…
Previously, I mentioned that Reebok includes some instructions about how to frame your pet portrait. Though Maddie’s portrait is an 8X10, we purchased an 11X14 frame with a mat. Reebok actually encourages you to use a mat, as placing the pet portrait directly against the glass could cause the artwork to smudge. Of course, I was careful when framing Maddie’s portrait. Plus, Reebok’s instructions were good, so I had no problems!
We hung Maddie’s portrait on the gallery wall in our great room. That is how much we love it! We want it to be one of the first things that someone who visits our home sees. And we want to see it daily!
